Youth Today

Greetings in the name of the Lord!

In the New Testament, the author James likens the Bible to a mirror.  With the holy Word of God we are to examine our lives to see if we be in the faith.

The Bible is the authority.  In it we find what God loves and what He hates.  Through the Bible we have knowledge of how to please God and how to do His whole will.  Don’t depend on man and his opinions; simply turn to the Word of God for understanding.  The Holy Bible is a deep well of knowledge, power and faith that was over 6,000 years in the making.  It is so important to our spiritual well-being that Jesus declared, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4).  God’s Word is life to our eternal soul; and it’s our road map to heaven, showing us the way.

How often do you read the Bible?  Do you treasure the wealth of knowledge in it that God has made available?  Is it life to you?  A road map will do a person no good in terms of finding a destination unless that map is studied and acted upon.  So it is with a mirror…it’s useless in revealing flaws and imperfections unless a person takes the time to stand before it and examine themselves.

The hour is late, and Jesus is coming soon.  He will be coming after a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing (Ephesians 5:27).  However, so many Christians today are spiritually malnourished; their garments are full of imperfections, and they don’t even realize it.  They think they’re on their way to heaven; but they don’t understand what God, through His holy Word, requires of them to get there.  They have failed to study God’s Word or to show themselves approved unto God by rightly dividing His truth.  Instead, they put their complete trust in man’s opinions and their own ideas.  When the blind guide the blind, they will both end up in the ditch.

Many people today think that they can sin and still go to heaven.  The infallible Word of God says, The soul that sinneth, it shall die (Ezekiel 18:4) and He that committeth sin is of the devil (I John 3:8).  Others believe that they have eternal security if they were confirmed as a baby, baptized in water or if they belong to a particular church.  Jesus said, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God (John 3:3).  Do you think you will go to heaven by simply being a good moral person?  Jesus declared, I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved (John 10:9).

If your ideas about salvation and eternal security differ from those in these scriptures, then maybe you should examine yourself more closely in the mirror of God’s Word.  After all, what is your eternal soul worth to you?  Are you willing to take such a risk of losing it?  If you would like prayer for salvation, click here.
