Will a Man Rob God?

January 2012

Topics: Doubt, Fear
by Rev. Brock Miller

As children of God, we have so much to be thankful for!  God has blessed us abundantly in many ways.  However, you must remember that the devil hates you and that he is out to rob you of your blessings if you allow him to.  The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly (John 10:10).  The devil is a thief and a robber; and if he can’t rob you of your salvation by getting you to commit sin, then he will try to rob you of your peace and joy in the Lord.

You may ask, “How does the devil rob a child of God?”  Two of his greatest tools of robbery are doubt and fear.  In this final hour, we must be so careful to guard our minds and hearts against the spirits of doubt and fear.  You have to make sure that you’re always prayed up, fasted up and living in the Word of God.  The devil will not be able to rob those who are walking hand-in-hand with Jesus in all obedience.

It truly is a horrible thing to be a victim of spiritual robbery.  In the world we live in, it’s common to hear about robbers breaking into houses and stealing others’ valuable possessions; but what a tragedy it is if you let the devil break into your mind to steal the valuable treasures God has given you!

Young People, be determined to never be a victim of spiritual robbery and decide that you won’t be a culprit either.  It’s bad enough to let the devil rob you, but it’s even worse to be the one who is doing the stealing!  Will a man rob God?  Yet ye have robbed me.  But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings (Malachi 3:8).  It’s terrible for a person to rob God, yet many are guilty of that crime.

There are many ways to rob God—you can rob Him of time by not spending it with Him every day; you can rob Him of talents by not using them for His honor and glory; you can rob Him of glory by not giving it to Him for the wonderful things He’s done for you.  Never let it be said of you that you robbed God, and never let it be said that the devil robbed you.  Use the blood of Jesus and the Word of God to put your foot down on the devil once and for all!  Live a holy life just like Jesus did and watch as the Lord blesses you in abundance!
