God Hath Anointed Us
June 2011
He hath anointed us…to carry the Gospel to the world! This was God’s message to us as we prepared for our next missionary journey to Cape Town, South Africa. In the last service before we left, the Lord directed Rev. Angley to preach a special message with this scripture text: The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord (Luke 4:18,19). The Lord wanted each member of the tour group to take His anointing to the people of South Africa. Rev. Angley said that God’s anointing is what makes the difference in the lives of born-again people. It makes them just like Jesus and lets them know what He would say or do ...

A Word From Gloria
God’s business is saving souls, and it’s our business, too, as we travel to the mission fields. The Bible says, The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise (Proverbs 11:30). A great price was paid in prayers, fasting and living in the Word of God so we would have the precious anointing of God before we went to Cape Town, South Africa. The timing was perfect, and God had everything planned and orchestrated for us to harvest souls. Truly, the harvest fields are ripe and ready to be brought in; and miraculously we sow, water and reap all at the same time.
Today, I would like to talk about the work that we are involved in as we contact people on the streets of the poverty stricken communities where there is such a great need among the downcast. On arrival, we are like teams of special forces, “hitting the ground running”; each one working, taking care of his individual responsibilities. No matter the task assigned, each team works effectively together—like a right and left hand. In every situation, God is in control, and we have just what we need to help the people—the anointing and the truth of God. We carry the remedy, God’s great love; and we introduce it to the people. It is the way God gets into their hearts.
Every day, about fifty team members go out into the highways and byways to speak to the people one-on-one, pass out invitations to the crusade services and to distribute Gospel literature and gifts from our congregation. Thousands of pieces of literature were given to the people during our two-week mission.
As soon as the people see our colorful “shirts” which identify us, they run to our team members saying, “Do you have any Gospel materials?” All ages appreciate and make a fuss over the literature and gifts we give them, and many even cry or dance when they are given something. Their tears are “happy tears” of humility when they find out they do not have to pay for the items that we share. Because they are gifts of love which are anointed by God, they have a profound effect on them; and we can sense the appreciation in the hearts of the people.
At times, they recognize us from previous visits and will proudly come running, saying, “I still have my gift you gave me three years ago!” People openly and anxiously receive literature and prayer; and some will even put their hands over their face as tears run down their cheeks, telling us “No one ever gave me something for free!” A woman, who when given a handmade gift at no cost to her said, “Nobody has ever loved me like this!” The Jesus blood love can break down the walls of all prejudice, and His divine love is the key to our amazing success.
No matter how busy it was on the streets or how many people were around, nearly everyone we met wanted prayer. It was shocking to us to meet people who had never prayed a single prayer in their life—nor did they know how to pray—but we were there to graciously teach them how to receive the comfort, peace and mercy of God. Words could never explain how we feel when we share the Word of God with such hungry people. The people are very anxious for prayer; and when you pray for one, suddenly everyone wants prayer.
At times, entire families openly give their hearts to God in a matter of moments. Some of the people would tell us that they never felt God’s presence or His Spirit until we prayed with them. Many have been searching all their lives for what we’ve brought, and we have what they need and want—the love of Jesus. When giving one young woman Gospel literature, she said, “I love you. I love you. I love you.” We know it is the love of Jesus in us that they love. Child of God, whenever you are ready and anointed of God, there will always be a soul “around the corner” waiting for your help.
As the children filled with curiosity gather around us, we’re ready to teach them interesting, short Bible stories and sing Gospel songs with them in their language. There is a sweet Jesus anointing going forth to their little hearts and minds during this time.
The people “pull” love out of you, and they quickly recognize real Jesus love. With such a thirsting for love, the Lord hears their cries. Some will ask, “How can I really know Jesus is in my heart?” Their simple, childlike manner made it easy for us to tell them what the blood of Jesus will do. There is no greater privilege than leading a soul to the Lord.
God had prepared the people, and the Holy Spirit placed conviction on numbers of them previous to our arrival; so the moment we handed them a Bible tract or magazine, they would begin to tell us their shortcomings and sins. People are drawn to the love, the caring and the compassion we display. In a few moments of time, we can give instructions to people who have never understood who Jesus is or how to find His forgiveness. Many think that they are all alone in this life; but we tell them that not only does God love and care for them, but so do we. The devil destroys people, but God will set them free if they will yield to Him.
Most people do not venture into the areas we go to; but in such “out-of-the-way” areas is where the people are who have not received love in the way our team takes love—and they can hardly believe we are there. The joy of the Lord always keeps us going when things become difficult because we realize this may be people’s one and only chance to find the reality of God.
There were those who would even come out of the bars to talk to us and then receive the Lord as their own Savior, and many of them were exuberant at receiving the Gospel. When we ask if they know who Jesus is or who God is, there are times when they answer, “No.” So many people are without help and without hope—especially those who have lost all they own or even found themselves separated from family members through drinking and living a sinful degraded life. The exciting thing is that God gives reality to those who are sincerely hungering for truth, and all who will accept His blood sacrifice can be changed in a moment. Then their new life begins.
When we went into some of the places of business along our way, the store owners would ask any customers who were there if they wanted prayer, too. Some would even shut down their business for prayers. When you touch people with the truth, they become alive; and a beautiful change takes place.
Miracles from God last; and when we arrive in a country many tell of a great miracle that happened to them when we were in their nation previously. We hear all about what God did for them—miracles for cancer, goiters, deafness, crippled limbs, etc. One woman told our workers that the last time we were in her nation, she received a miracle after suffering with a stroke; and she wanted to come to the crusade we were currently holding as well.
Winning souls was just like “picking ripe fruit” because they were ready to be won for Christ; they were ready for harvesting. As soon as we gave them materials to read, it was “good-bye” because they became so focused on reading the literature that they did not even realize we were still there. They were hungering and thirsting for God, desperate and looking for help; and it is amazing how God’s love penetrated into their innermost being. The unbelievable love of God we share with them is a wonder in their eyes, and they love it.
This is a life-changing Jesus ministry where people are taught the power, depth and authority of the Word of God. It is because we’ve been blessed by God spiritually, physically and financially that we want to give so others can receive all they are in need of. Sometimes, we don’t know who is the happiest—the person who finds the Lord or the person who leads them to Christ. And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely (Revelation 22:17).
All who invested in the crusades with their love gifts, prayers and fasting are a vital part of every miracle that took place, of every soul that we won for Jesus. What a marvelous investment in the Kingdom of God, and Heaven’s reward will be worth it all. For every sacrifice you willingly gave in His name, we humbly say, “Thank you. Thank you. Thank you for giving for souls.”
