As we traveled to the Dominican Republic on another missionary journey, our sole mission was to rescue souls—to help those lost in sin and those who were in search of a miracle. Consider what it means to really be lost in the natural. I picture someone who cannot find their way, someone in the dark, dark night, grasping at any light of hope they see. I see fear, loneliness and confusion. I see a longing heart seeking help, but finding none—without even the basic needs of food, water and shelter. Hearing many strange sounds in the night, they feel as though they'll be torn apart at any moment and left to die. In a desperate search for a way out, they stumble and fall; and they find themselves bleeding and in pain. They look for a home lit up in the darkness or a highway of safety, but all in vain. Hours and days go by and because of all their cries for help, their strength is gone. Oh, how they long to hear a voice saying, "I'm coming! I'm coming!" But no one is there; they have no comfort, only torment. To be left in this condition, life would soon end; and this is only a partial analogy of what the soul without God may experience.
Yes, we found the lost lambs and gave them Jesus. John 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. We knew He would heal all the hurt, the loneliness and the darkness of sin. We knew He would heal the soul, mind and body for everyone who called out to Him in faith, believing. His answer was not, "I'm coming!" But His answer to their cry rings loudly, "I am here! I am here!" Matthew 28:18 tells us, And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Tenderly, He took them by the hand and held them close, wiping away every tear, calming every storm raging inside. To every down-trodden and devil-possessed soul, He offered deliverance. Man cannot save the lost, but the blood of Jesus can; and He is the answer they were looking for.
We know that just one soul is worth more than the wealth of the whole world, and Jesus died for each one. In the Dominican Republic, we witnessed not just one soul being delivered, but thousands were set free in a moment of time, brought out of sin, sickness and devil possession. They were waiting for help, crying in the night. We carried the blood light to show them the pathway out. Many did not know the help that was available or the magnitude of the power in the blood of the Son of God. Shouting and singing the praises of God out of a heart of thankfulness, they were new creatures in Christ Jesus.
Dear One, your soul will live forever. What value do you place on it? Are you in the night of sin or sickness? Are you a lost soul searching for the light? Ezekiel 18:20 says, The soul that sinneth, it shall die. There is no need to stay in the night and die a spiritual death. You can find Jesus, too. Cry out from your innermost being, "Jesus help me! Jesus forgive me!" He is listening and ready to forgive, ready to heal all sicknesses and diseases. John 6:37 says, All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. He is Savior and Lord, and He will not turn you away.
God bless you is my prayer,
Gloria, International Director of Foreign Missions
